Thomas Cranmer

St. Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556) is revered in the Anglican communion as the compiler of the Book of Common Prayer and author of some of the most beautiful prayers in the English language. This icon continues a series I have painted of “unofficial” saints, including Julian of Norwich and Evagrius of Pontus. The icon was commissioned by a direct descendant of Thomas Cranmer.
